Just when you thought Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday was enough, the travel industry has now taken over the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. They have christened it Travel Deal Tuesday. But should you really wait to buy everything on Travel Deal Tuesday? No, and here is why.

Flights — In recent years, there have been incredible deals on flights that airlines have offered on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Many airlines are still going to announce amazing deals this Friday. The key to getting in on the savings is to know exactly what you want and be ready to check on the flight you are looking for as soon as the clock strikes midnight. Then pounce on it right away. Another option, is to be completely flexible – simply reserving the first amazing deal going to a destination on your bucket list.

Although, there have been great deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, word in the travel industry is that travelers should actually buy on Travel Deal Tuesday. Which for 2018, is November 27, 2018. According to Patrick Surry, Chief Data Scientist at Hopper, an app that uses data to predict airfare, “The airlines offer major discounts because travel demand tends to die down following Thanksgiving.” In fact, according to Surry, in 2017 there were more flight deals on Travel Deal Tuesday then on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. A good way to find these deals is monitor them via Hopper using the “Travel Deal Tuesday Deal Finder” on the apps search screen.

Nevertheless. as Travel Deal Tuesday is new, many airlines are starting their sales on Black Friday. So, if you have your heart set on a specific destination don’t wait.

Tours — Several tour companies are offering Black Friday deals. Many of these go over the weekend, but may not stretch to Travel Deal Tuesday. Examples of sales include:
1) Intrepid is offering 20% off all 2019 trips from now through Travel Deal Tuesday.
2) G Adventures’ Cyber Sale offers 10% to 35% off tours from now through Cyber Monday.
3) REI is again closing their doors on Black Friday and instead is promoting #OptOutside (Yippee!) When the re-open their doors on November 24th, they will offer discounts on classes, events, and a few excursions.

Hotels – Some hotels also offer special deals this weekend. Some of the best are listed at “Black Friday and Cyber Monday Hotel Deals for 2018” by Brendan Dorsey posted November 20, 2018 on the Points Guy. Two examples are:
1) Starting Friday at 9 a.m. (ET), Expedia will offer $100 off select flights and an extra 75% off coupon on select hotels.
2) Hilton is offering 50% off bookings in some locations such as Japan, Maldives, and Thailand on Black Friday.

For hotels, you can get some amazing deals year round using hotel search engines like Agoda.com. They often have flash deals with as much as 80% off. They also have “secret deals” for travelers that like to gamble.
